The Wolf’s Whiskey

It all started when…

I thought I could make better whiskey, without corn, at home. “How very Oregon,” I bet you are thinking. Yes, I grew up in Oregon building, making, drawing and growing anything I thought was interesting. For me, making whiskey was a natural extension of the farming, brewing and vinting traditions so lauded in this state. Wine making in Oregon has always reflected the distinctiveness of each year, capturing the tastes and smells of a specific moment and time. I wondered if I could do the same but with whiskey.

The wolf is always the rogue trickster in fairy tales, stealing, outsmarting, teasing, all the while collecting her own stash. There is an incredible episode of Snap Judgement about a Yellowstone wolf, 06 Female, that is the inspiration for this whiskey. The Wolf’s Whiskey is crafted to be enjoyed socially or as your lonesome self. It retains a smooth sweetness left by a gentle fermentation but is subdued with earthy hints of spice. She’s gentle and rested but delivers a little bit of a bite.

The Wolf’s Whiskey is a spirit that captures this region’s landscape and climate. Sourced entirely from Oregon-grown barley, rye and oats, distilled twice, and rested in barrels with Oregon oak chips for 6 months. Nothing else.

More whiskeys are to come, but let’s start with this one. Its easy to sip with an interesting botanical nose, a spicy finish from the rye and the oats softening the mouthfeel. Enjoy this spirit and be a little wild. Cheers!
